Transmission electron microscopy investigations of deformation in films of amorphous and semicrystalline isotactic polystyrene have shown crazing to dominate up to the glass transition temperature, T v the craze fibrils becoming more crystalline as the strain rate is lowered and the temperature raised. Above Tg semicrystalline films show fibrillar shear.
