Reasonable models for the crystalline structures of unsubstituted poly(azomethine) and methoxy substituted poly(azomethine) are proposed on the basis of X-ray diffraction and computer modeling. Both compounds exhibit a relatively high degree of crystallinity (,30%). The calculated diffraction patterns (almost identical to the experimental ones) show that the polymers investigated crystallize in a pseudomonoclinic or a triclinic lattice. The structural properties of the polymers studied, based on their crystalline structure models, are discussed.
